Beretta S687 EELL Four-Gauge Competition Set 28-Inch Skeet Barrels, 30-Inch Sporting Barrels, Briley Sub-Gauge Tubes and Nasco Case An impressive Beretta S687 EELL 12-gauge over-and-under shotgun presented as a versatile four-gauge competition set. The package includes the gun’s original 28-inch skeet barrels, an additional 30-inch sporting barrel set with screw-in chokes, and fitted Briley sub-gauge tubes in 20 gauge, 28 gauge and .410 bore. The coin-finished receiver is fitted with full sideplates embellished with detailed game-bird scenes, floral scrollwork and finely executed border engraving. The engraving continues across the fences and other exposed metal surfaces, giving the shotgun the refined appearance associated with Beretta’s upper-grade EELL models. The shotgun is stocked in richly figured walnut with a high-gloss finish, finely checkered pistol grip and broad competition-style forearm. An adjustable recoil-pad assembly allows the shooter to modify the pad position for a more individualized mount and fit. With two barrel sets and Briley tubes covering 20 gauge, 28 gauge and .410 bore, this package provides four-gauge capability from a single familiar action and stock. The Beretta 687 EELL The S687 EELL belongs to the upper-grade end of Beretta’s highly regarded 680-series over-and-under family. Variations of this basic action have been used successfully for decades in both field and competition shotguns. Beretta elevated the EELL above its standard production models through the use of full decorative sideplates, extensive engraving and specially selected walnut. Although the sideplates provide the appearance of a traditional sidelock, the gun retains Beretta’s proven boxlock mechanism underneath. That combination provides much of the visual presence of a bespoke shotgun while preserving the reliability and serviceability of the 680-series action. The EELL tradition continues in Beretta’s present 687 EELL line, where selected walnut, fine checkering and elaborate game-scene engraving remain defining features. Earlier S687 EELL examples such as this one are appreciated for combining traditional Italian gunmaking details with a competition-proven Beretta action.
