2021-(W) American Silver Eagle Type I ANACS MS70 • Key Date Label • One Troy Ounce Silver Offered is a 2021-(W) American Silver Eagle Type I containing one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. ANACS has certified the coin as MS70 and attributed its production to the West Point Mint. Type I coins retained John Mercanti’s heraldic-eagle reverse, which had appeared on the series since its introduction in 1986. The Type II landing-eagle reverse was introduced during the second half of 2021, making that year the only one in which both designs were issued. This example carries the parenthetical 2021-(W) attribution used for bullion coins identified as having been struck at the West Point Mint. These bullion coins do not carry a physical mintmark. The mint attribution is based upon documented production and submission information rather than a mintmark on the coin itself. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design, while the Type I reverse depicts a heraldic eagle and shield beneath thirteen stars. ANACS assigned this example the highest numerical grade of MS70. Important Lot Information Although the certification label references a two-coin set, this auction lot contains only the single Type I coin shown. No companion Type II coin is included. Condition The coin remains sealed in its ANACS patriotic-style certification holder. The holder may exhibit light handling, storage marks, or surface scuffs.
