The coin has been certified by ANACS as MS70 and carries the company’s “A First Strike Coin” designation. Lot Details: Year: 2021 Denomination: $1 Series: American Silver Eagle Variety: Type II Landing Eagle Reverse Mint Attribution: San Francisco, shown as 2021-(S) Composition: .999 fine silver Silver Weight: One troy ounce Certification: ANACS Grade: MS70 Designation: A First Strike Coin Certification Number: 0200886010101205 Background The year 2021 marked the first major redesign of the American Silver Eagle since the series was introduced in 1986. Type II coins replaced John Mercanti’s heraldic-eagle reverse with Emily Damstra’s design depicting an eagle preparing to land while carrying an oak branch. During a period of unusually strong demand for silver bullion coins, the United States Mint supplemented West Point production with American Silver Eagles struck at the San Francisco Mint. Approximately one million Type II bullion Silver Eagles were produced at San Francisco in 2021. These bullion coins do not carry a physical “S” mintmark. Attribution to San Francisco is based upon documented production and the identifying information from sealed Mint shipping boxes. The parenthetical mint designation on the ANACS label records that attribution. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design, while the Type II reverse represents the beginning of the modern landing-eagle design. ANACS assigned this example the highest numerical grade of MS70. Condition The coin remains sealed in its ANACS patriotic-style certification holder. The holder may exhibit light handling, storage marks, or surface scuffs. Please review all photographs for the appearance and condition of the coin and holder. Double A Auction & Realty
