Antique Lefever Arms Co. Side-by-Side Hammerless Shotgun Up for auction is a classic American antique Lefever Arms Co. side-by-side double-barrel hammerless shotgun[cite: 25, 26]. Produced in Syracuse, New York, guns built by Lefever Arms Co. remain iconic among American sporting arms collectors for their innovative design, smooth lockwork, and historic craftsmanship[cite: 26]. This example features a classic sideplate action clearly marked “LEFEVER ARMS CO.” on both sides[cite: 26, 34], double triggers[cite: 26, 28], a textured rib with a brass front bead[cite: 31, 32], and Damascus pattern barrels[cite: 31]. The walnut stock shows fine hand-checkering at the wrist and forearm[cite: 28, 33], topped off with top-tang safety controls[cite: 29]. Features Manufacturer: Lefever Arms Co. (Syracuse, NY)[cite: 26] Action Type: Side-by-Side (SxS) Hammerless Double Barrel Shotgun[cite: 25, 26] Trigger: Double Triggers[cite: 26, 28] Receiver: Sideplate action stamped “LEFEVER ARMS CO.” on both sides[cite: 26, 34] Barrels: Damascus pattern steel barrels with matted solid rib[cite: 31] Sights: Front brass bead sight[cite: 32] Stock: Checkered American walnut stock with pistol grip and rounded buttplate[cite: 28, 33] Safety: Top-tang mounted safety slider[cite: 29] Condition The shotgun exhibits age-consistent patina, surface oxidation, finish wear, and thinning across the frame and Damascus barrels[cite: 26, 31, 34]. The wood stock retains fine original checkering but shows handling marks, scuffs, light surface scratches, and varnish wear expected on an antique arm[cite: 28, 33]. Noticeable wear and a small chip/void are present in the wood inletting along the bottom edge of the left sideplate[cite: 26, 27]. Mechanical operation and bore condition have not been verified. IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTICE: Because of its age and Damascus barrel construction, this firearm is being sold strictly as an antique collectible project/display piece. Damascus barrels should never be fired with modern smokeless powder ammunition. It should be thoroughly inspected and approved by a qualified gunsmith prior to any attempted use. Please review all photographs carefully. Sold AS IS, WHERE IS, with no warranties or representations regarding mechanical operation, safety, or suitability for firing.
