Genuine US Military Issue Phrobis III M9 Bayonet & Scabbard Assembly Up for auction is a genuine US Military issue Phrobis III M9 Bayonet complete with its original scabbard assembly. Originally developed in the 1980s by Phrobis Ltd. for use with the M16/M4 family of military rifles, the M9 remains one of the most iconic multi-purpose field knives in modern military history. Featuring a heavy-duty clip point blade with spine saw-teeth, a fuller groove, and the signature wire-cutter lug aperture, this bayonet interfaces with the T-mount post on the scabbard base to create a heavy-duty wire cutter. Stamped “M9 PHROBIS III U.S.A. PAT. PEND.” on the ricasso, this setup comes complete with its olive drab scabbard, quick-release belt frog, stone pouch, and handle retention strap. Features Manufacturer: Phrobis III (U.S.A.) Model: M9 Bayonet & Wire-Cutter Scabbard System Blade Stampings: Ricasso stamped “M9 PHROBIS III U.S.A. PAT. PEND.” Blade Design: Heavy clip-point blade with saw-tooth spine, milled fuller, and wire-cutter pivot hole Handle: Ribbed olive drab DuPont Zytel molded polymer grip with crossguard and rifle muzzle ring Pommel: Standard military bayonet lug attachment latch mechanism Scabbard Assembly: Matching OD green composite scabbard with wire-cutter plate, webbing strap frog, and utility snap pouch Condition This M9 bayonet and scabbard setup is in very good military surplus condition. The blade retains a clean matte finish with light draw marks from the scabbard spring and minor handling wear along the cutting bevel. The saw-teeth remain sharp, and the handle/guard assembly is tight with smooth latch spring action at the pommel. The nylon scabbard webbing, snap closures, and composite sheath exhibit typical light field wear, dust, and minor metal patina consistent with military storage. IMPORTANT PURCHASING NOTICE: This is an authentic US military surplus collectible blade. Please inspect all close-up photographs for exact details on ricasso stampings, blade condition, and scabbard hardware before bidding. Please review all photographs carefully.
